guest post: Kris ::Create What Is In Your Heart

:: I have another wonderful post from one of the participants of the Love Notes Project.  I was so delighted when I read these words from Kris and just know that they will touch home for a lot of folks who do not believe that they are artist.  I invite you to soak in her words and know that each of us are artist, yes even you. ::

I am 64 this week and just beginning to re-connect with my creative energy after years and years of ignoring it.  I was one of those people who thought "if it isn't perfect, then I am not an artist."  As my three grand daughters came into the world and I began to "create art" with them (at any and every given moment!!), I realized just how much I enjoyed the creative process and how we are all artists --- it's just a matter of definition.  As a result, I have set aside expectation of the outcome --- that's some of our big life lessons, isn't it?  It's not about the destination --- enjoy the journey!!

As for this wonderful Love Notes Project --- I have so enjoyed it.  It reminds me of the "good old days" when we had pen pals in school!!  It's been fun for me to read the prompts and see what comes up instantly in my mind.  That's what I end up doing --- no second-guessing myself.  It's intuitive.  The words and images just pop into being.

In the past, if the words didn't look like they were calligraphy, I couldn't/wouldn't put them out there.  If the shoes or feet didn't look "real" I would either re-try and re-try or give up.  Not the case anymore and it is so freeing.  I think a lot of that has to do with all of the women who are creating what's in their hearts and are not afraid to put themselves out there and part of it is where I am in my life.  I no longer care what others may think -- It's so much more about how I feel.

Thank you for this fun and important connection between women.  I look forward to your next one.  And the one after that and the one after that!!!
